§ 11-15. Exception.

  • Notwithstanding any other provisions of this article, a resident of the county who owns a motor vehicle shall not be required to pay a license fee if such motor vehicle is stored on private property for a period of not in excess of sixty days, for the purpose of removing parts for the repair of another vehicle. In addition, nothing in this article shall apply to any vehicle being held or stored by or at the direction of any governmental authority, to any vehicle owned by a member of the armed forces on active duty, or to any vehicle regularly stored within a structure, or to any vehicle not operated on public rights-of-way. For purposes of this section, the term "structure" shall have the same meaning as that ascribed to it in accordance with the Isle of Wight County Zoning Ordinance, as it may be amended from time to time.
