§ 1-7.1. Court costs.

  • Any person convicted of a violation of any statute or ordinance in any criminal or traffic case in the district court or circuit court of Isle of Wight County shall be assessed a sum of twenty dollars as part of the costs in each court in each case.

    The assessment shall be collected by the clerk of the court in which the case is heard, remitted to the Isle of Wight County Treasurer and held by the Treasurer subject to appropriation by the governing body to the sheriff's office for the funding of courthouse security personnel and, if requested by the sheriff, equipment and other personal property used in connection with courthouse security.
