§ 1-7.3. Assessment for courthouse construction and renovation.
Any person filing a civil action in the district court or circuit court of Isle of Wight County and any person charged with a violation of a criminal or traffic statute or ordinance in the district court or circuit court of Isle of Wight County shall be assessed a fee of three dollars as part of the costs in each court in each case. Such fee shall not be assessed in any civil action if the amount in controversy is five hundred dollars or less.
This fee assessment shall be collected by the clerk of the court in which the action is filed, remitted to the Isle of Wight County Treasurer and held by the treasurer subject to appropriation by the governing body solely for the construction, reconstruction, renovation of, or adaptive reuse of a structure for a courthouse.
