§ C-2. Purpose.

The purposes of this chapter include, but are not limited to:

(a)

Establishing a program enabling the county to acquire agricultural conservation easements voluntarily offered by owners to serve as one (1) means of assuring that Isle of Wight County's resources are protected and efficiently used;

(b)

Establishing and preserving the rural character of the county;

(c)

Preserving farm and forest land;

(d)

Assisting in shaping the character and direction of the development of the community; and

(e)

Improving the quality of life for the inhabitants of the county.
