§ 7-27. Violations of this article.

  • (a)

    Any violation of this article shall be deemed a Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than two thousand five hundred dollars, twelve months in jail, or both.

    (b)

    In case of a violation or attempted violation of a provision of this article, the fire official may institute appropriate proceedings or actions to prevent such violation or attempted violation, to restrain, correct or abate such violation or attempted violation, and to prevent any act which would constitute a violation of this article. The fire official is hereby authorized and empowered to notify the appropriate person of any violation of this article, and to direct compliance with the terms of this article within a reasonable time specified in the notice. Such notice shall be sent by certified mail, addressed to the last known address of the person responsible for the violation.

    (c)

    The failure, neglect or refusal of any person or other entity to whom a notice of violation is sent to comply with the notice within the time specified, shall constitute another violation and shall be subject to the same penalty as set forth in subsection (a) of this section. (6-14-18.)
